Foundation Puppy Training

Give your new family member the perfect start in life. 🐾

Bringing a new puppy home is an incredibly exciting milestone, but the first few months are also the most critical window for their development.

The habits, confidence, and boundaries your puppy learns now will shape the dog they become tomorrow.

At Tipulo Canine, we move away from the chaotic environment of traditional, overcrowded village hall classes.

Instead, we welcome you and your puppy to our beautiful, calm outdoor training grounds at Haresfoot Park, Berkhamsted. Here, your puppy will learn to focus around real-world distractions in a controlled, low-stress setting.

Our aim is for your regular 'Walk in the Park' to become just that!

Led by Michael Bannister BSc (Hons) ABIPDT, an Associate Member of the British Institute of Professional Dog Trainers with over 30 years of elite experience, our puppy programs are built on simple, structured, and highly effective instructional techniques.

We don’t just teach standard commands; we focus on the vital life skills your puppy needs to thrive in the real world:

Our puppy foundation syllabus is carefully structured to transition your puppy smoothly from early coordination to reliable real-world habits.

We focus on four core pillars:

Loose-Lead Foundations: Building a strong desire to walk calmly by your side, preventing pulling habits before they start.

Reliable Recall: Step-by-step techniques to create a fast, enthusiastic response when called, ensuring safe off-lead freedom.

Controlled Socialisation: Teaching your puppy how to remain neutral, calm, and focused around other dogs, people, and outdoor environments.

Focus & Impulse Control: Core life skills including sit, stay and polite greeting manners (no jumping up).

Whether you choose our highly personalized 1-to-1 Private Course or our exclusive Boutique Small Group Course (strictly capped at 4–5 puppies), you will receive the expert guidance needed to build a lifetime of clear communication and mutual respect.
